R. Tryon |

Robin Tryon has been the
flute instructor at Mount Union College since 1985 and at Malone
College since 2001. She graduated summa cum laude from Bowling Green
State University with a B.M in music education, and from the
University of Akron with a M.M. in flute performance.
She is the founder and
director of both the Mount Union College Flute Choir and the Stark
County Honors Flute Choir, as well as the director of the Malone
College Flute Ensemble. The flute choirs perform frequently at
the Central Ohio, Northeast Ohio, and Dana Flute Festivals, as well as
recitals at area schools, churches, clubs, and civic events throughout
the year.
Tryon has had instruction
and coaching with Maurice Sharp, William Hebert, Harold Skinner,
George Pope, and Anne Whaley-Laney. She has performed with the
Canton Symphony and the Canton Symphony Woodwind Quintet, the Canton
Concert Band, the Tuscarawas Philharmonic, the Bayless Symphonic
Winds, the Dolce Musica Quintet and has been soloist with several
musical ensembles including the Canton Concert Band, the Mount Union
College Wind Symphony, and the Alliance Symphony.
Active as a free-lance musician, she performs in
the pit orchestras of the Player's Guild and Kent Stark Musicals.
Tryon serves as adjudicator for competitions including those of the
National Flute Association and Northeast Ohio Flute Association, and
participates as a clinician and flute choir conductor for workshops,
festivals, and conferences throughout Ohio. |
| Elaine
M. Anderson |
|
Elaine Anderson is an
assistant professor of music at Mount Union College where she teaches
'cello, bass, chamber music, theory, music appreciation, orchestral
literature, and string methods classes.
Dr. Anderson holds a D.M.A.
in cello performance from the University of Alabama, a M.M. in
performance and theory from the Manhattan School of Music, and a B.M.
in string education from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.
She is a member of the
Brevard Music Center summer artist faculty in North Carolina.
Her chamber music studies have included coachings with the American
String Quartet and the Cadék Trio; orchestral studies mentors include
Nathan Stutch and Carlton McCreery. Dr. Anderson has performed in masterclasses for Yo-Yo Ma and Carter
Brey. She has been a featured soloist with orchestras in
Minnesota, Alabama, Ohio, North Carolina and South America.
Currently, she is the
principal cellist of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic and subs with other
area orchestras including Wooster and Warren. Prior to joining
the faculty at Mount Union College, Dr. Anderson performed with
several orchestras in the Southeast and held teaching positions in
Georgia and Alabama. |

H. Kendrick |

Currently
active as a church musician, accompanist, and professional musician,
William Kendrick has enjoyed a career marked with integrity and
diversity. A retired music educator, he served the Perry (Stark Co.)
Local Schools for 31 years as a vocal music director, with special
concentration in the development of the young voice. Since retirement,
Mr. Kendrick has served as a vocal coach at Jackson High School.
In the area of church
music, Mr. Kendrick has served as Organist-Choir Director at Zion
Lutheran, Trinity Lutheran, and St. Paul's Episcopal, in Canton. He
also held a similar position at Community Christian Church, North
Canton. He began organ studies under the tutelage of the late Martin
Alexander. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio University,
and earned a Master of Music in Organ Performance at Kent State
University, studying with the late Richard Warner and John Ferguson.
Mr. Kendrick has earned a
respected reputation in the area of accompanying. He currently is on
the part-time faculty at the University of Akron as a staff
accompanist in the School of Music. In addition to
accompanying hundreds of vocalists and
instrumentalists during his teaching career, he has also played with
the Meadowbrook Big Band, in pit orchestras for many musical theater
productions, and has entertained on the piano for various
corporate and civic occasions. William is also accompanist and
associate conductor of the Stark Festival Chorale.
Mr. Kendrick is active in the American Guild of
Organists, Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and the American
Choral Directors Association. He also serves the Ohio Music Educators
Association as an adjudicator. |
